Our blue skies and sunshine turned into dark clouds and torrential downpour as we dealt with the effects of being hit by a tropical storm. Although less than ideal, we didn’t let this storm kill our spirits. We still went out with a positive attitude every day to try to catch some rays and beat the rain.
On one particular afternoon we set out to the Bald Head Island country club in hopes of getting some sun, despite the impending doom of rain that was ever so evident by the clouds. Nicole and I were laying out by the pool sipping on some drinks when we got a little hungry for lunch. We decided to tootle on over to the Bald Head Island Country Club Pelicatessen, which is right across the pool at the country club.
Their menu featured a nice variety of American food, and I had a hard time deciding on one thing because so many things sounded tasty. I eventually picked the mayhem wrap – a wrap with grilled chicken, bacon, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, cheddar and chipotle pesto sauce in a flour tortilla with French fries.
This wrap brought together a lot of great flavors, making this wrap bold and flavorful for me. There was a nice saltiness and fat from the bacon, plenty of gooey cheese between the cheddar and mozzarella, some spicy from the chipotle pesto, and the roasted red peppers added a sweet and fresh element. And of course, you can never go wrong with French fries.
This meal turned out to be a satisfying and filling meal for a very rainy day. I personally enjoyed my sandwich and fries at the Shoals Club more, but this wrap still hit the spot. The service was the same when comparing it to the Shoals Club. Although the Shoals Club does have a nicer atmosphere, the drinks at the Bald Head Island Club are much less expensive. Both clubs are great places to dine, and you can’t go wrong at either.
