North Jersey Country Club

My school has a break in the middle of October after the first set of exams called Pacing Break. Why it’s called that? I have no idea. But we get Monday and Tuesday off so I’m not going to complain. I went to my Mormor’s (Danish for grandma) house in New Jersey to visit her and the rest of my family who lives around there.

When I arrived, my Mormor took me out to lunch at North Jersey Country Club. She is a member there, and in order to dine there you have to be accompanied by a member. We went to the casual dinning hall that afternoon and I ordered the blacked Mahi Mahi that’s topped with strawberry avocado salsa and served over grilled pita bread.

I was a big fan of the salsa. The avocado gave it a creamy texture and the strawberries added a nice sweetness to it. There was a bit too much cilantro in it for my liking, but I also don’t overly care for cilantro so I’m sensitive to the taste of it. The tuna was well cooked but the pita bread wasn’t as grilled as I had hoped it would be. It was more of an open face sandwich, and I was hoping for a sandwich I could pick up. I think that may have been a bit too messy though so having it open faced is a better call.

I asked for some steamed broccoli on the side because my dish didn’t come with any vegetables. The broccoli was good, but it’s also pretty hard to mess up steamed broccoli. Mormor ordered a tuna fish sandwich, which she always loves. My aunt who joined us just ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, which looked scrumptious. I said she should have gotten some tomato soup to go with it.

The prices aren’t cheap but they’re reasonable. It’s what you would except when going out to eat at a country club. The waitress was very pleasant and pretty well trained (which is uncommon in many restaurants nowadays). The dinning hall, like the rest of the country club, is very pretty yet simple. I always enjoy going out to eat with my family at “the club,” as they call it.
