I’ve always been a lover of brunch, because you can eat breakfast late while having the option to eat lunch if that tickles your fancy – so what’s not to love? As spring break reared it’s end and I had to mentally prepare myself to go back to school, my friend Steven and I decided to grab brunch on one of my last days home. We decided to go to Peach Valley Cafe, a local breakfast place that’s always packed, especially on Sundays.
I’ve been craving breakfast sandwiches lately, so I decided to steer away from my usual omelette option. I picked the vegetable and egg croissant Benedict, and Steven went a similar route with the Philly steak and egg croissant Benedict.
My sandwich consisted of grilled tomato, asparagus, grilled red onions, poached eggs and fresh hollandaise sauce on a croissant. It said it was served with our breakfast potatoes, and to my happy surprise it also came with fruit. I love eating fruit with breakfast, and most places unfortunately charge extra for it so I was pleased to see a place that didn’t. The sandwich itself was quite good, but was lacking a little in flavor despite the hollandaise sauce. I added some ketchup and hot sauce to it to add more flavor, which definitely helped. The poached egg was done well and perfectly drippy so I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The potatoes were also delicious, and I finished my meal stuffed and satisfied.
Steven’s sandwich was Philly beef grilled with mushrooms, peppers, red onions, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce on a croissant. His dish also came with breakfast potatoes and fruit. I didn’t try a bite of his food, but he ate all of it and said it was scrumptious.
Overall, we had an enjoyable brunch. Our food was tasty and the service was great. I’ve been there when they’ve been packed, and they’ve always done a good job of being attentive regardless of how busy they are. The atmosphere is simple but still nice, and the food is also reasonably priced – both of our meals were $10. If you’re looking for brunch in the Lake Mary area, I would highly recommend Peach Valley. They’re always packed, so they’ve obviously doing something right.
