Sometimes there’s nothing like a nice hunk of meat. Sinking your teeth into a juicy burger engulfed in gooey cheese and caressed between two fluffy buns can be beyond gratifying. Heck, it can even be godsent.
I’m the kind of person who needs to eat something when I crave it or else I can’t stop thinking about it. For weeks I had a hankering for a burger, and I seized the opportunity to order one when I went to Stone Street Tavern.
The tavern burger with sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions and Swiss cheese was what I ordered. I substituted cheddar for Swiss, though, because there’s nothing quite like classic sharp cheddar cheese.
The size of the burger really captivated me. It was just the perfect size for a meal and wasn’t overwhelmingly monstrous like burgers are sometimes. Medium rare is the cooking temperature I ordered, and it was the perfect amount of pink in the center. The mushrooms and onions added depth of flavor. Substituting cheddar for Swiss cheese was a great call on my part, if I do say so myself. Fries accompanied the meal, and they were the right amount of crispy.
Order this classic American dish at Stone Street Tavern, located on the historic Stone Street. Maybe even order a beer with it, as well. Beers and burgers always make for a good day.
