Walnuts, dates & brown sugar oatmeal

You can have a lot of fun with making oatmeal because you can give it any flavor you want. Sweet, savory, fruity, you decide. One morning, I wanted to start off my day with something sweet. For this oatmeal, I used:

  • 1/2 cup of rolled oats
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • Handful of chopped walnuts
  • 6 pitted and cut dates
  • Spoonful of brown sugar

IMG_1156I poured enough milk into the bowl so the oats were just covered. I then heated it for about 2.5 minutes.

IMG_1161While it was heating up, I chopped the walnuts and cut the dates. I cut the dates in half, and then chopped them up so they were little pieces.

IMG_1162Once the oatmeal was finished, I stirred it all together and then added a spoonful of brown sugar. After, I added the walnuts and dates. I then sat down and enjoyed my deliciously sweet breakfast.  IMG_1171
