No matter what time of day it is, breakfast is always a good decision. On a Friday afternoon lunch date with two of my friends, Meghan and Sasha, we had decided to go to Alexandra’s Bistro to catch up before the end of the semester. Alexandra’s Bistro is a diner and America-style restaurant. After glancing over the menu, I decided that even thought it was lunch time and I’d already eaten breakfast, an omelette sounded perfect.
The garden omelette had caught my eye. It came with mushrooms, peppers, onions and tomatoes, and then I requested feta cheese on top. My meal came with toast and the option of coffee or tea. I decided on tea and whole wheat toast, and figured I’d splurge and add some home fries as well – the waitress asked if I wanted to add them, and I find it nearly impossible to say no to home fries.
I was starving so when my meal came out, I was ready to conquer. I started with the omelette and it was one of the best omelettes I’ve had in a while. It could be because I normally get egg whites, so the yolks added more flavor this time. Regardless, I loved the varying vegetables in it and they put the perfect amount of feta on top. It was cheesy, and I love mushrooms in almost anything. I then scooped some of my omelette on top of my toast and that just heightened the experience.
I then moved to the home fries. They were tasty, especially when I added some salt, pepper and Ketchup on top. I normally prefer the home fries to my omelette, but the omelette was the star in this case. I also realized that my eyes were bigger than my stomach, and I didn’t need to add the home fries because the meal would have been filling enough without them.
I would definitely go back and order this meal again, except maybe without the home fries because it was too much food. I was very satisfied and pleased with it, though. My complaint about the meal is that they only have black tea and don’t have a wider variety, although many places are like that. Also, we were waiting for someone else to come who ended up not showing up. Because we were waiting for her, our waitress kind of forgot about us for a little while. It’s understandable, but we were getting hungry and antsy once we decided to order without her. The waitress felt terrible once she realized, and she made up for it with her friendly personality.
The restaurant is pretty plain and there’s nothing spectacular about their decorations. The food is very cheap though, and extremely tasty and satisfying. I would recommend it to anyone because the food is great and it’s cheap – it’s a win-win.
