The freshness from the lemongrass, cilantro and lime juice juxtaposed against the saltiness from the fish sauce and spice from the chili peppers creates an inspirational combination. This is the flavor profile I found in Tom yum soup, served warm to me on a chilly and rainy day at Galanga.
Galanga is a Thai restaurant located near the New York University area of Manhattan. An order of their Tom yum soup is a great opening act to the star of your show, or the entree of your choice. For the Tom yum soup, I recommend ordering it with shrimp.
Pad Thai was next on the agenda for me. What stood out to me in particular with this pad Thai was the lack of grease. I enjoyed that it wasn’t too oily or heavy.
I would recommend Galanga as a good option for cheap Thai food in the NYU area. To the fellow students out there like me, you can enjoy a filling, satisfying and tasty meal for a decent price at this restaurant.
