I always find it hard going out to eat when I’m trying to maintain my healthy lifestyle goals. It’s hard to know what exactly is going in the food, and a healthy option could turn out to be deceiving. I’ve always enjoyed dining at Seasons 52 because they focus on healthier options, and they list the calories on the menu.
Recently, my family went out to eat at their Altamonte location. To start, we ordered the lobster and fresh mozzarella flatbread. For 380 calories, you got roasted sweet peppers, slivered scallion and lobster sour cream. I’m not a huge lobster fan because I find it to be bland, but I really liked the flavor of the sour cream. It added a hint of a fish taste, which complimented the rest of the dish. I think with a little Sriracha, this dish would have been taken to a new level of flavor.
For my meal, I ordered the lemon and herb roasted whole branzino. It was a 430 calorie dish with meyer lemon, thyme, broccolini and crushed roasted potatoes. The waitress cut the fish open in front of me so I would be able to eat there. I was excited for this dish because branzino is a great fish, I’m obsessed with broccolini and nobody can deny roasted potatoes. However, there was a lot of flavor missing in my meal. I would only sometimes get a flavorful bite of the fish. In addition, the broccolini and crushed roasted potatoes tasted like they weren’t even seasoned. I think this is the case because since Seasons 52 likes to keep their food healthy and low calories, they skip out on some of the essential fats to give the dish flavor.
I know that in trying to be healthy, this is good for me. However, I think it’s possible for them to find a way to add zest to the dish without compromising the mission of the restaurant. The staff was well trained and the restaurant is beautifully chic rustic, but there was some left to be desired from my meal. For what the prices are, you should be pleased with your meal.
